On Removing Permanent Black Hair Dye…
I’ve cracked it. Actually, a hairdresser told my Auntie, who told me, who tried it out. I have to wash my hair with washing up liquid- not too much but enough to make a nice lather. I have to leave it in for just over 2 minutes. Then, rinse it out and use shampoo and conditioner as normal. I tried it for the first time this morning and, although it’s not noticeable, I saw some of the water turn purplish when I was rinsing my hair, which means that the dye is slowly coming out.
Another good sign is that some brown streaky bits are appearing in my hair. This may be due to the fact that I’ve been shampooing my hair twice to get the dye out (admittedly I forgot this morning). I dyed my hair brown before dyeing it black so it seems as if the brown is still underneath or something.
As soon as the black has faded a considerable amount I’m going to dye it brown again. I can’t wait.
Other possible ways I could remove the dye are:
1. Using a ‘hair colour remover’ kit.
However, these don’t always work removing black hair dye and can damage your hair.
2. Get colour stripped at a hairdressers.
Very expensive and could damage my hair.
3. Just wait for it to grow out.
That’s going to take til the Summer and will look skanky.
4. Grow it out and have a semi permanent black put on the regrowth.
Again will take forever, will be expensive, and hair will be black for a long long time!

Hiii!
Well it was more of a crazy impulse thn a decision. At least I gave it a try!
My hair was dark blonde before I dyed it brown.
“Black Cherry” sounds amazing!
At least give it a go and if you don’t like it then you can always go back to blonde!
Let me know how it goes!

what do you mean by washing up liquid?
i dyed my hair a “bitter sweet chocolate” and it came out black and i HATE IT!! i will go to a salon but i dont want to damage my hair..so i reaaaaly need to try this.
waht do you mean by washing up liquid? detergent? body wash?
thanks youuuu
Hi, my hair is finally not black anymore this is what you need to do-
1. Use VO5 hot oil on your hair…you can buy it from most supermarkets, boots and superdrug.
2. Wash your hair with washing up liquid AFTER the hot oil but BEFORE shampooing.
3. Use head & shoulders shampoo & conditioner – it’s really good at stripping the colour out.
4. Pray.
I did the above and it faded the black very much. I then bought Loreal Effaseur Colour Stripper from ebay once it was extremely faded…This MAY damage your hair…mine isn’t but the ends are a bit dodgy…I used two sachets…If you are going to use it I recommend fading the colour as much as you can first…once you’ve used it you should deep condition your hair and re-dye it a LIGHT colour.
i had brown streaks then dyed it brown permanently then dyed it “bitter sweet chocolate” which came out black so if i do your 1-4 steps what colour would show up? would the brown show up or the streaks? im hoping to try this soon. really dont lyk the black and cant stay out of public any longer!!!!!!!!!!
thanks =]
It would fade out and start turning brown…if you want to fix it within a month then I’d fade it using the 1-4 steps and buy some of those sachets to take out the rest of the black completely, if you’re willing to risk hair damage, and then dye over it with a light brown. I did all that and my hair is now auburn.
thanks a lot. i’ve started the steps, hope it works! (:
but doesn’t using washing up liquid damage your hair? :/ i’ve had dyed black hair for a few months now and i want it back my natural olour which is a mid brown. and i don’t want to strip or bleach it. and i really do not want to damage my hair
PLEASE HELP xx
No it doesn’t. I suppose some brands could have chemicals in that could damage your hair. Head & Shoulders Shampoo is really good at removing colour over time, and the washing up liquid helps, so does VO5 Hot Oil.
Whatever you do get a good conditioner and leave it in for 5 minutes every time you wash your hair (I highly recommend Aussie 3 Minute Miracle or Lee Stafford’s Poker Straight Treatment For Flat Iron Addicts) – that way, no matter what you do, your hair will not become damaged. Make sure you use a heat protector spray every time you dry/use straighteners. If you want information on stripping it or anything else, let me know. weezy x
